The Simonis Metro Station is a station on the Brussels Metro serving lines 2 and 6 via two different levels called Elisabeth and Leopold II. It opened on 6 October 1982 and is situated at the end of Boulevard Léopold II. It is close to Elizabeth Park and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart. The station was named after the Belgian sculptor Eugène Simonis.On the 5 November 2013 the levels changed their name.Simonis(Léopold II) is today called Simonis and Simonis(Elizabeth) is today called Elizabeth Since December 2009, it is also served by NMBS/SNCB local rail services on line 28. The line runs from Brussels-South to Schaerbeek, but currently the trains stopping at Simonis go between Brussels West and Dendermonde.
